Belize...

This morning I left Guatemala and caught a flight to Belize! The flight from Flores, Guatemala to Belize city was on a small plane that sat maybe 9 people. It was an interesting plane ride! It was nice to be in a small aircraft that flew kind of low so you could see the landscape. I arrived in Belize city at the international airport and quickly checked in for my flight to San Pedro, ambergris caye. Getting through security was kind of a hassle and they paged me that my flight was leaving. I made it to the flight. Another really small plane. I was the only one on it! We took off and 5 minutes later we landed. I thought it was strange, but I figured the guy at the gate knew what he was doing. Well, they flew me from the international airport to the municipal airport. Mistake. I talked with a woman at the counter and she told me I would have to go back to the international terminal to catch my flight. Another woman overheard this, made a call and told me it was fine, that they would get me to San Pedro from there. After a 15 minute wait, I was back in the air. We stopped at caye caulker, then took off again, and I finally arrived in San Pedro. Grabbed a taxi to my hotel. Got in my room right away, then I went to the beach. Today was just hanging out on the beach and reading. There was a HUGE Rottweiler hanging out on the beach by me. She seemed pretty friendly. So, I called her over. She immediately tried to jump in my lap. So great! This dog was way too big to be a lapdog. She disappeared for a while and I dozed off. Next thing I know, I'm being woken up by a big slobbery lick on my face and the dog trying to jump up on my lounger with me. It was great to have a friend today! Later I went to the bar, and I met the dogs owner. A Canadian lady who moved here a couple of years ago. Really nice lady. She was at my resort to see a client off for the boat taxi to the airport in Belize city. She is a diving instructor and does not regret the move here from Canada. There are quite a few expats here. I understand why. Anyway, that was my day. Nothing really exciting. Tomorrow I may go to shark ray alley and snorkel with the sharks and rays.
