Goodbye Hanoi...
Well, since my cruise of Halong Bay was cancelled, I made it back to Hanoi and had another full day there. I didn't have any plans. So, I hired a guide for a half day and had him take me to some places I did not see. We went to places like both lakes in Hanoi. There are two! A small lake and a big lake. They were pretty cool. Also, he took me to the prison in Hanoi, where John McCain was held. I didn't get any good photos there as it was pretty dark. It is a prison. It was strange too, they didn't have any information about John McCain there. My guide told me that he was held there, but I didn't see anything. Mostly, it was just a nice day with my guide Jimmy, and we talked about things like how Vietnamese people feel about Americans and religion. He isn't religious. Except maybe he said he was Dao, because that is a really lazy religion. Oh, people like Americans there. They realize the war was between Russia and the U.S., with Vietnam as a battleground. That's what he told me. Oh, and people here think it is really funny that I'm 40. Jimmy asked me how old I was. I told him. He asked me if I was married. I said no. He laughed, and said "Well maybe it's too late for you, you are old now." They all seem to think it's really funny that I'm 40 and laugh when I tell them my age. Most are younger people and say things like "You old, I'm only 23". Whatever.
